What We Know:

Some dogs on grain-free diets come down with a heart disease called cardiomyopathy. However, not all dogs on grain-free diets do. The FDA is currently exploring the link between the two and has found a link between the diet and the disease in dogs who are not pre-disposed to heart disease.

What We Recommend:

While feeding your dog a grain-free diet does not guarantee one way or another that they will get cardiomyopathy, it is better to air on the side of caution and feed your dog a tried and tested recipe.

Some pet food brands we recommend are: Iams, Purina, Royal Canin, and Hills

These companies have been around for a very long time and have invested lots of time and money into diet and nutrition research. If your dog is on a special diet for medical reasons, always be sure to discuss with your veterinarian!

If your dog has been on a grain-free diet and you’re concerned about the recent alerts from the FDA, we’re offering taurine testing at a reduced cost.
