Towne Animal Clinic Care Fund: Provides humane treatment for pets that would otherwise not receive care.
Partnership with the Humane Society of Loudoun County to provide low-cost care for stray and foster dogs and cats.
Partnership with the Loudoun Community Cat Coalition to provide spay and neuter services for feral cats.
Partnership with Loudoun County Animal Services in providing emergency care for sick and injured pets and wildlife.
Organized Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Bollenbeck is the former president of the Loudoun County Veterinary Medical Association (LCVMA), former Virginia VMA Director, and current President of the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, helping assure the quality and integrity of veterinary medicine within the state of Virginia.
Veterinary Research Donor Wall. Gifts to the donor wall are earmarked to create a brand-new endowment supporting veterinary clinical research. An active clinical research program aims to discover new and better methods of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment that will improve the quality of life for current and future patients. Current projects address a wide range of health issues in dogs, cats, and horses, such as mitral valve disease, brain tumors, mammary cancer, hyperthyroidism, and invasive skin cancer.
Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy Sponsor. The Conservancy promotes the preservation and proliferation of healthy wildlife habitats throughout Loudoun County by fostering an understanding of the value of nature and providing opportunities for applying that knowledge to the betterment of the natural environment.
Loudoun Lyme 5K/10K and 1K Fun Run Sponsor. This event drives awareness and raises money to help find a cure for Lyme disease – the number one tick-borne illness in the United States. It also features an information fair to educate the public about Lyme disease, its causes, symptoms, and treatments.
Dr. Melissa Derbin serves on the Loudoun County Animal Advisory Committee, the purpose of which is to advise the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors on the effectiveness of the Loudoun County Department of Animal Services (LCAS), serve as an advisor to the LCAS director and as ombudsman for animal control problems, and work to promote a public awareness of LCAS.
